The Great World City, Singapore, is getting a re-modification that will connect its Mass Rapid Transit rail system to a Mall. The first section of the rail system started on November 7, 1987 and ran between Toa Payoh and Yio Chu Kang. It has grown quickly since and has a daily average over 3 million commuters.
Great World City Under Renovation to Include More Tenants
This River Valley enlargement is expected to include 50 new occupants with three essential hubs providing access to the MRT Station. The mall will be inviting with the new architecture and will include a large Food Court offering food and different drink vendors. This Great World City has grown rather rapidly and this is the first major renovation in 20 years. The project started around the middle of April and is expected to open in 2021 with the Thomas-East Coast Line at the Great World MRT Station.
Great World City Improvement in Tenant Mix
The vital vendors and retailers that are there at present will not be affected by this massive improvement, but that does not include all of them. A fitness Center has closed for redevelopment as part of the mall’s make over, and is scheduled to reopen May 31. It will have two floors of retail shops, new walkways and escalators inside providing easier shopping enjoyment, creating a growth of 30% from 20%. There will be more tenants at Great World City Shopping Centre after renovating the shopping centre.
Wider Cold Storage at Great World City Shopping Centre
The supermarket, Cold Storage, which is in the basement, will be doing its own expansion and will offer a larger variety of foods, along with other new products that weren’t available before. There are other malls along the Great World City’s MRT line that have yet to make known their decisions on this expansion. There be a new link to the basement and offers other commuters to other retailers that are in the basement.
The plan is to lure more people in so they will shop more in-store, which in Singapore they rarely do, so adding an inviting food court will, hopefully, entice more customers to the malls and could increase retail sales immensely and get people out of their house. With a price tag of over $50 million, construction itself is scheduled to be finished in two years…if all goes as planned. As of now thing look promising and on time. The Great World City of Singapore is booming and expanding to improve their city bringing into more modern times and more convenience for the communities around this Great World City, Singapore, and travelers from other countries as well. Travelers will also enjoy the benefits this transit system will provide and the products it supplies.
